Georgia O'Keeffe was an American painter famous for her large, close-up paintings of flowers and for the stark, sun-bleached landscapes of the New Mexico desert she loved. Her bold, simplified style helped define American modern art in the 20th century. She lived much of her later life alone in the desert, finding endless inspiration in its bones, rocks, and wide-open skies.
